Oops! George is correct. 4.64 mm for 1/2" is almost equal to 3.5 mm for 1/3". So they both have about the same FOV. Thanks for pointing this out.

I am really tempted to go for the EX1/3. The low light will be a huge help and if as you say, the lens will be just as wide then why not. The EX3 will have tru wide angle soon as well.
