Strange Behavior with Backfocus EX-1

Hello,

My backfocus on the EX-1 was a bit off from the factory so decided to run the backfocus reset from the PP menu.

The backfocus is now very sharp and much improved but from time to time when I turn on the camera, the backfocus is way off. Like the neccessary information did not get loaded into the chip.

If I turn the camera off then back on, the backfocus returns to normal function.

I am quite busy now and do not have time to mail the camera somewhere nor have a had good experiences with Sony repair in the past.

Anybody else see this?

Strange.
I've never seen this.
You could try running the Flange Back setting again.

Well, I am torn.

Because it is electronic, I don't feel comfortable running the setup that much now that the BF is really sharp as it took a couple of times to get it right.

This is a drawback of a "little" camera. I will monitor it and see how it goes.

you should let the Sony Regional Service Center check the camera...

Juan,

Thanks for participating in the forum. I think we all really appreciate it. It shows that Sony really cares about it's customers.

back focus reset

Where in the PP menu is back focus reset? Is that part of the overall reset?
Is it the same on the 1 & 3 ?
Thanks

Hello Juan,

I am in the DFW area.

Is there a local service center or certified technician I could take the camera to?

I mailed a VX-2000 into Sony because there was grease/oil inside the lens and the camera came back not being able to focus for the last 10% of the zoom range and the packaging looked like the camera was thrown inside.

Thank you
