For what they are worth

Here are some quick snapshots of the homemade raincover for my EX3.
Making 2 separate pieces both with o-ring type rubber washers helped them seal well around the viewfinder arm.
A bit floppy but I don't get wet arms while operating and my camera stays dry.
The extra material comes in handy for setting the unit on the ground as well.

It does take a few minutes to put on but it works.

I also have velcro on the camera lens cover and back of camera to tighten things up in.
Mostly I made sure any rain would drip away from the camera and not pool up and find a way in.

Rain cover made for the EX3

Kata Bags are releasing the CRC-12. It looks to be a good fit for the EX3.
Their site shows the camera in it, finally. It even alows the viewfinder to be folded up.

Re: Homemade works great too

Paul, email pics to jeff@gonethinkinoutdoors.com please...
I use a black waterproof backpack cover with a drawstring that folds up into a little pouch; I purchased it at Amazon, they have four differemt sizes and i even bought on to fit over my video case. I'll try to find the link if any one is interested.

I ordered a yard of camo Gortex fabric and set to work.
Ended up with a larger than "normal" cover so I can operate it while my hands and arms are underneath the rain cover. No dripping down my sleeves when handheld anymore.

I made a separate piece just for the eyepiece and LCD. That way I can still tilt and angle the viewer.

The main body cover has a rubber gasket glued into it which covers the arm of the eyepiece/LCD. I cut a slit into one side of the gasket which reforms a circle over the arm of the viewfinder when in position. Super waterproof in an area that looks like it could filter in water easily.

I ended up using velcro although snaps would work as well. The velcro secures better and make a more waterproof and snagproof shell. The velco also adheres to small sticky-backed velcro pieces I stuck on the camera in places and onto the lens cover to form a tight seal and protect from rain better.

Cost: around $25.00 plus my time. Best part is I can pop the camera on/of the tripod quickly and shoulder mount in no time.

Seamseal holds this fabric together really well.

I can email photos if anyone wants.

Re: EX3 Rain Cover

I found a Kata cover for the EX1 on Amazon for half the list price. I really like it. If you can find one that cheap the diy approach might not be the best way to go.
