Philip Bloom Blog Archive Sony EX1r and something else coming on the 20th in Paris?

Phil Bloom has a link to a website that may have posted the specs of an "EX1r" early.

At 9am UK time (8.00 GMT) tomorrow you'll be able to get accurate details about the real thing via my Blog. Not speculation or hearsay but real details. Can't say more until then.

Or you could come see me at the Televisual Roadshow in Bristol on Tuesday, Cardiff Thursday/Friday.
http://www.televisual.com/roadshow/

or the EXperience event in Dublin on Wednesday. Pre Booking required for either event!

Hi Alister,

Will the show in Dublin on Wednesday be showing any of the new EX camera's ?

Gary :)

Alister Chapman October 19th, 2009 09:35 AM

I can't answer that question. Sorry

Alister Chapman October 19th, 2009 09:52 AM

I do try to help this and other communities with honest advice, tips, workflows etc. I have given my time preparing free video tutorials, answering questions on the board publically or via PM's and even over the phone. I do feel that I have earn't the right to do a bit of self promotion. Besides which the information that I will post once the embargo is lifted will be accurate and correct and not based on speculation, unlike some of the other links that have appeared.

Paul Cronin October 19th, 2009 10:01 AM

I for one have always appreciated and respected Alister's input. And if you look closely at what you call "self promotion" it is full of useful information that will make everyone a better XDCAM shooter and beyond.

How about in the nose and out the mouth a deep breath for all of us and lets enjoy the announcement tomorrow.

Thank you Alister

My Sony gear had never let me down and I look forward to the next upgrade.

Here's what I'd like to see from Sony: An EX / XDCAM 3XX series Hybrid, This dream shoulder mount Camera would be capable of recording onto either SXS, Optical disc, or both simultaneously. If over-heating, or battery-life is not an issue, this camera would be idea.

Ed Quinto October 19th, 2009 01:57 PM

I'll play. I'd like...

Full frame DSLR-like camera with:
proper audio controls and connectors, full frame, sensor SDI or HDMI out, at least 35Mbit xdcam codec, no jellow like the current DSLR's, undercrank/overcrank, SD or CF card recording, small but better handheld ergonomics than current hybrids, able to use any canon, nikon, leica lenses.

That, would be BIG.

Tony Davies-Patrick October 19th, 2009 02:27 PM

That would be pure dreams and wild imagination, Ed... :)

Andy Wilkinson October 19th, 2009 03:56 PM

Yep, I'll be here bright and early...after almost 100 posts of speculation and intrigue...why not attend the show (and because I live in a, near enough, time zone).

Somehow, the full shoulder EX5 that I originally imagined was almost inevitably a forgone conclusion for many months is no longer, really, the "game changing" thing I hope they now might announce.

Doug Jensen October 19th, 2009 04:35 PM

Well, you haven't heard anything from me. Not a peep.

But in Sony's defense, it is forums like this that have whipped people into a frenzy. All Sony said was basically, "stand by for an announement on the 20th". That's it. How can they be faulted for that? All the frenzy whipping is self-induced. Grown adults acting like children on Christmas Eve. :-)

Without violating my NDA, I can assure you that that Sony is not announcing a cure for cancer.

Damian Heffernan October 19th, 2009 04:46 PM

You know what's cool is the frenzy is very apple like :)

Which Sony exec is going to be the Steve Jobs and run on stage punching the air?!

Tim Polster October 19th, 2009 05:22 PM

Where do we sign up for the free beer?

I didn't see that in my e-mail invitation.

Matt Buys October 19th, 2009 05:26 PM

You guys are all wrong. My inside guy at Sony says it's going to be a 4D cam capable of projecting 6k holographic images 30' tall. However the audio is spotty and there are no external jacks.
