EX30 firmware update available at DVinfo.net

After some provocation Sony AU admitted that a firmware update is available. If we can believe what we've been told this brings the EX30's ability to record to 3rd party cards into line with the EX1/3.
Given that the EX30 can record from HD-SDI this is a most welcome update and our unit has been sent off for the update. As the EX30 does not have an external USB maintainance port there appears no chance to do this upgrade yourself.

As an aside I wonder what we should call the tapeless recorders, "VCR" does not seem appropriate but I'd imagine it's going to stick anyway.
