Left Eye shoulder brace for EX1 cameras

I have customized my EX1 shoulder brace kit to accommodate Left Eye dominant shooters. I have had a few shooters ask for this before, but I think this is my best solution so far for "lefteys".

This is a prototype I will be sending to Tom.

I was surprised myself at how nicely this balances. It gets rid of the left tilt tendency of the EX1.

You can also see a wireless mic drop-in box attached to the standard wing in the photos.

If anyone is interested in this solution, or if you have any other custom requests contact me.

Docea,

The cable I assume you are talking about came with the Libec controller, I got it from LA Colorshop I think. They may be able to make you a longer one. Or contact Libec. I like the pigtail because I worry that the Fuji plastic connector may not last that long on the EX lenses, it really does not seem Pro-Quality. Just like I wish the EX cams had 4-in XLR power plugs instead of the consumer grade connectors.

Anyway, sorry about the rant. Her are a few more shots of the "Lefteye" setup for Tom. He is getting a NanoFlash as well, so with a slight mod, to my straight NF bracket, it works well.

How many Left Eye dominant shooters are out there? If there are a lot I could see making a more specialized bracket setup for you. Post here, to let us know. We may be surprised to find out how many there are.

I can see why Olof gets rave reviews from all of his customers. He is very helpful and attentive to seeing that you get the product that you are looking to buy. He spent a lot of time on the telephone with me to help me understand the modifications he was making for a left-eye dominant videographer. Can't wait to try out the new shoulder mount. Highly recommend him!

Got my "left eye dominant" modified shoulder mount today from Olof. It was very easy to assemble and only takes loosening 2 thumb screws to put it away in my camera bag for transport. The fit is very nice and feels comfortable -- very custom-made feel. Customer service is great and Olof will exchange info with you to make sure you are satisfied with the product he builds for you. I wanted mine set up to be able to accommodate a Lectro wireless and a Nanoflash and Olof came through with just the right solutions. Being left eye dominant is a bit of a handicap so having a good fit with the shoulder mount makes all the difference in the world toward getting great video.

Does the shoulder support take much weight off the front hands holding the camera?

Need to get a shoulder support for my NXCAM similar build to EX1 but with the viewfinder it sits out infront of me heaps, considering getting this Westside Mount any reviews?
