Any remote lens. focus and zoom controllers for EX-1?
I have an upcoming shoot that will require use of my jib. I had a lanc controller on an old camera that provided full control of the camera. Since getting the EX-1, I have not found a complete control device. I know there are units that will achieve some of the tasks I want to do remotely, but have not found the MacDaddy system. Any ideas?
Thanks, Phil Hanna |

The only setup I have found is from Varizoom, which includes a zoom controller and a focus ring/controller. Varizoom also makes extension cables if your jib is long. I have their Pro-EX zoom controller and use it 90% of the time.

Hey Phil. You can borrow my Varizoom:
VariZoom VZ-Rock-EX PMW-EX1 Rocker Controller VZ-ROCK-EX - B&H if it will work for you, but it sounds like you'd still need an extension cable for it. dave |

I have a Libec ZC-9EX which I use with my EX1R and I'm pleased with it.

There's also the Fujinon SRD-92B, which works very well, but needs an adapter cable from Jony. Pretty pricey though.

Craig,
I also own an SRD-92B. Any idea what the adapter is called to use this unit with the EX1R? Thanks! |

I 2nd the Libec, though you may find its easy-release extension cord falling out too often and some tape is needed to tighten it up a bit. I suppose that minor annoyance is more useful in protecting the camera.
I'm disappointed that Sony didn't break out some focusing functions and particularly the Push-Zoom in its interface control. I really don't want to fumble with the camera at times to avoid camera shake as well as mount this controller on the handle of a body rig support. At the very least, a Push-Auto button would help as it did with the Varizoom controller for my Sony Z1U. |

Hi Peter. It's a A-EX8F from Jony. I ordered it from B&H. If i'm not mistaken, this was a special order item that took a couple of weeks. It's about 12" long and attaches directly to the Fuji controller. The other end attaches to the hand grip on the EX1. Works perfectly. The SRD was bloody expensive, so it was nice to be able to get some more miles out of it. Cheers |

Craig,
Thanks so much! But yikes, the thousand dollar lens controller just turned into an $1,100 lens controller... |

Hi Phil,
Manfrotto just released a fantastic lens remote for the EX camera line up. Check out this clip I produced for them on this product: Video Link: Manfrotto Lens Remote Controllers - YouTube Joel Brooks Moments In Time Video Productions |
