Bluetooth to IPhone

Someone told today that the PMW500 has the ability to send a video signal to an IPhone within 10 metres via Bluetooth. Sounds pretty awesome if thats the case and I wonder what the chances are of using this technology on my PMW350? I guess its built into the camera somehow?

I have Googled it but cannot see any mention of it. Anyone?

Cheers, Tim.

Re: Bluetooth to IPhone

I'm guessing however told you this is thinking of Sony's WiFi adapter and the ability to log remotely using a suitable WiFi device, including an iPhone or iPad. The system is called XM Pilot http://www.sony.co.uk/biz/product/op...pilot/overview. On the PMW-500 this only sends logging and metadata. If your using the kit on a PDW-700 or F800 it uses the proxy video stream created in the cameras and can stream this to the iPhone/iPad.

Re: Bluetooth to IPhone

Ahh... I see. Very clever. It would make a great add on for any camera if someone could come up with a magic bluetooth to IPhone box thing!

Thanks for the info Alister.

Tim.

Re: Bluetooth to IPhone

Bluetooth would be of very limited use. There would be a delay encoding the signal, then it would have to be extremely compressed to fit in the bandwidth and then there would be a further delay decoding it. So you would end up with a very small, low resolution image that's lagging a couple of seconds (or more) behind real time.
