Sony PL 35mm 50mm 85mm Glass DOF Compared on PMW-F3 Camera

This was over on dvx user.... Sony's look pretty good, I hope to see some more in depth tests at full Rez but I am leaning toward the F3 + Lens package

That was remarkably painful to watch and listen to. Nothing useful on the lenses, with no baseline to compare.

Granted it was not an ideal video showing off the Sony glass, but it is the only video I have seen out there that actually shows the Sonys on the camera AT ALL and some brief footage with them... and from what I could manage to see in this was the Sony's look to be at least usable... I too hope something better comes along soon...

There's a quick and dirty one done awhile ago vs a Cooke s4 which gives an idea of what the Sony PLs will be like.

I'm not sure what the point of that video was. There was nothing there that you couldn't see with a 7D and a 17-85 zoom.

FWIW, I got hands on with a set of these lenses recently. They feel like cheap kit lenses, plasticky shells, rough zoom and aperture rings, lots of friction. I would not dream that they'd be worth $2000-$3000ea, compared to the prime offerings that are out there now.

Of course, what is really important is on the inside, and that's yet to be proven. Time will tell.
