Re: FS5 spareparts in London?
That's very disappointing to hear. I thought Sony Prime Support would offer a professional (i.e. very timely) response to your problem. Don't think I'll bother extending my support on the FS5 once the 2-years is up.
Note: I went for extension of the Prime Support cover on my other Sony cams - e.g. my old EX3 had a full 5-years support in the end which cost me about £150/year once the initial warranty period was up. Never needed anything doing to it though and my PMW-300 has so far proved just as reliable. Think I'll just keep the money for something else in view of your recent experience.

Re: FS5 spareparts in London?
From speaking to the Sony support guys in Australia, the PMW-300 is a rock solid camera with which there has been no problems.

Re: FS5 spareparts in London?
Was out shooting around town today and I think I've lost the eye cup (the rubber push on thing) from the viewfinder at some point. I suspect whilst carrying the camera down at my side as I walked from one location to another…probably brushed against my leg and just popped off. Just been out and re-traced my steps but can't see it anywhere (unless it's in the studio somewhere). More likely someone picked it up in town thinking "that's useful, wonder if it'll fit my XYZ!"
Not a big deal but (since its just a light push on fit) I guess I won't be the last person to do loose one - and in view of this thread I'm not sure how long it might take to get another one!

Re: FS5 spareparts in London?
Wow, that's appalling. I realise the FS5 is relatively new, but nonetheless it's a camera intended for a professional market where we live or die based on operational equipment.
I spotted this recently and from the comments section, it seems you are not alone.

For future reference. Small rig make a metal replacement for the clamp here:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's so cheap I've bought one as a back up as it's obviously a vulnerable part. |
