FS5 does not detect AC adapter preventing me from firmware update at DVinfo.net

For some reason my FS5 doesn't detect or charge from the ac adapter port. I've tried several ac adapters... I normally don't care because I'm running off battery 99.9% of the time. But the fact that it's not detecting the AC plus is preventing me from having the ability to upgrade to firmware 4.0... Are you all having any problems similar? And is there a way to get around the Need of the AC needed for the update?

May be too obvious form my side but:

Did you switch from 'charge' to 'dc out?'

...and make sure there is no battery on the camera... I think from memory? Also make sure you remove all cards from the camera to be safe.

Haven't been able to confirm this yet but check this out. maybe best to hold off till this situation is clarified.

Just had a thought. Are you 100% sure you are using the USB cable that was supplied with the camera. I have seen a couple of cases where another USB cable was used and the update wouldn't proceed. I notice with the FS5 upgrade instructions they don't specify that you MUST use the supplied USB cable. With a number of the other Sony cameras they specify to use the USB cable supplied with the camera. Sony goes on to say that

"Update functionality is not guaranteed with any other USB cable."

As I say just a thought. See below the warning from an X70 uograde.
