Jacob, wouldn't a larger CCD require the sensor to be closer to the glass? Since these are mirror slappers, how could this be done other than the need for wider glass at the base?

Frank, the Nikon F-mount has already been used on a full frame camera, the Kodak 14n.
If it was functional then, why wouldn't it be now?

Which F-mount lenses?

All with the exception of DX (1.5x) lenses to my knowledge.
Now, the only negative issues I'd ever heard about with regard to mounting older Nikkor lenses on any Nikon DSLR or Fuji DSLR or the Kodak 14n was that it will not meter, but other than that, the older lenses should still mount and work.

How would you mount the F-mount non-AI lenses?

As far as Non-AI F-mounts go, I can't say I've ever used one myself, so I can't attest to its operation.
But from what I gather, it will mount, and it has worked for some people, although there are reports of it possibly causing problems with the contacts or other parts of the camera over extended periods of use.
I don't even know if Nikon has issued an official statement addressing the possible risks, probably because they know that most people are going to use the new lenses anyway, I'm not sure.
It's not all that surprising to me that people have found incidents where there are problems that arise from lenses that are over 30 years old and a brand new DSLR.
When you put that many years between the camera and a lens, some kind of an issue is bound to arise.

It's rumored that Nikon might break free from the tradition of announcing a camera and then having several months or more go by before the camera actually makes it into people's hands.
I'd say they'll have to in order to steal any of Sony's or Canon's thunder from Photokina next month.
