fantastic new Leica M8 photos

http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-...id=00IaPX&tag=

All it takes is money: $5000 USD for the body, $1700 for a coded 'cron 50/F2 lens.

(the photos sucked)

:-)

(you'd expect better from a $5000 camera body, or would you?)

I agree. They look like snap shots.....ugly lighting, poor composition. It's not really a fair test of the camera.

It would be interesting to see it go up against a D2Xs, esp in dynamic range and contrast.

Those might be some of the worse photos I have ever seen. I could give a five year old a box camera and they could do better.

The Leica M8 got recalled, and their cheap fix is free filters. (M8 blacks come out purple.) $5000 USD for a camera that is flawed.

no M8 for me

Now that the digital M has been unveiled, with its skimpy CCD, tinfoil shutter and chubby physique, the girlie Leica diehards have shrugged off film and ceased singing the chammy shutter song. But wait! The boards and discussion groups have been abuzz with it's design flaws and lack of German engineering. Other than myself, who could have known this over-priced block of metal was going to cause such a stir? Leicaphiles demand quality and they demand results; and today they demand fixes or their money back! Nope. They won't get their money back and it serves them right for being stupid. Give me a Canon 5D any day.

Frank, can you imagine if Leica had managed to execute the release of this camera with any level of competency? Think about it, a street camera, with plenty of resolution, low noise level, and the ability to take Leica lenses. They would have a major winner. Now, it appears as if the very survival of the company is in question. Certainly, 2000-3000 world wide fanboys who have to rationalize their purchase are not enough to keep the company above water.

Leica just had another bail-out not too long ago, or was it that rich fellow who just bought more shares? (Silly him.) Probably Leica will go under and the name will be bought up by some Chinese company. I can't see them making any more sales after this M8 nonsense. I'm sure Leica will attempt one last scam, like a price hike for their free filters to fix the blacks. (Blacks come out purple.)

yet another M8 review by Puts

This is the latest from the famous Puts Leica shill:

I don't know what he's attempting to convey.

no water to hold up the ship

Most Leicaphiles used the excuse that Leica cameras were quiet, with their whomping chammy shutters. Now with the new noisy Leica M8, with it slamming metal shutter, there is no new excuse. Does this mean Leica's chammy shutters didn't really matter after all and the chammy shutter glorification was just Teutonic shilling? Remeber all the shutter praise by the famous Puts? I bet he's got egg on his face.

a Leica M8 shill goes bust

The net's biggest Leica M8 shill is selling his new M8 and lenses for $25,000 or best offer. He also sold his forums. I guess that even shills "get taken." :-)
