Release form for handing out courtesy screeners?
Is there a boilerplate available to have people sign when I give them a courtesy copy of my short film? In particular, I promise some of the crew and cast who donate their time a copy of the finished product for their portfolio. But I need to control distribution, because I'm also sending out the short to festivals and (eventually) broadcasters, so I can't have the video end up on YouTube or MySpace (which makes it ineligible for most festivals and broadcasting).
EDIT: I also imagine such a form would be necessary when handing out courtesy copies to investors... I'm already controlling who does or doesn't get a courtesy screener and I have my copyright watermark over the image, but i want to make sure the people do understand that they CANNOT distribute the video, and that I will provide an excerpt for their web site should they request it. This isn't a case of being able to sue them afterwards, so much as making sure they fully understand the terms of the agreement. Thanks in advance. jaybee |
