taping on the street
Hey guys,
I did a search but can't find a thread regarding this. When you are out in public, how do you conduct yourself? Is it ok to tape people in large crowds? Anyone know the law on this for Canada specifically? Thanks in advance! |

Do a search for "public place" and you will find oodles of threads. mostly USA, but enough from other locations to be worthwhile to you. I seem to remember someone saying that there are odd laws about this in France, which may have a knock-on effect for parts of Canada for all I know.

The tricky part of this is not all "public" places are public. That school parking lot may have been private. The parking lot in a shopping mall, as well as the "public" area is usually private as well. On the other hand, if you're on a public side walk and point the camera at a store (which is private) that would be OK . . . of course there may be issues with trademarked logos in the shot and that may depend on what the use of the video is.
You can certainly video people in public places but there can be individual privacy issues. One might examine "paparazzi" laws regarding that. |
