Music video challenge

I met a guy over the christmas who is in a band in Dublin. He's good at what he does and apparently the band are heading for success. They have their song ready for release. Its properly recorded and finished and they have the right connections in town. They are ready for release as soon as they get their music video done. I've been asked to produce this for them. Its an opportunity I'm reluctant to turn down.

I've been assured anything I need will be provided in the line of equipment.
I don't anticipate I'll need a whole lot on top of what I have already.
I want to do this the best I can so in terms of quality it must be broadcast.
I currently have in my arsenal:

XHA1 HV20 Merlin and the other neccessary gear (except for lights).

My questions are these.
Is the quality of the A1 good enough for this job?
I intend to shoot in 50i HDV

Will I need cineform for an intermediate codec in editing?

What is the current format for delivery to a TV station?
When i sepcialised in editing in college (10 years ago) it was 60 seconds of bars and 1k tone followed by a countdown timer and straight into it.
Does the final output need to be on beta for the tv stations?

I have a load of questions outside of the technical aspects also.
Any general advice poeple have to offer in relaiton to taking on a low/no (i think)
paying job like this would also be appreciated.

Im in pal land guys so please bear that in mind and thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.

Ger.
