That sounds like a similar program to the one we have in Australia. The government helps fund the first couple of years of a new small business through the social security system. It's a great system ans goes a long way to getting a small business of the ground.

Keith, you and Dylan should get your heads together and see what you can come up with. There is nothing better than working for yourself, it sure beats busting your arse for someone else.

Ooo.. this is definitely something I must look into.

I am indeed sick of working for 'the man' as it were. (or not working for the man)

I've been working for myself for the last 5 or 6 years. Nothing beats it. Of course, the boss is still an a-hole....

Hey Aaron,

"Ahh so you were down here. Come through Auckland? If I'd known, would have been good to catch up."

Yeah, too bad, we could have gotten together. Although I was pretty busy at the time and didn't even get to have coffee with an old college friend whom I learned is doing grad work at the University of Auckland's Biotech Institute.

"We have huge pesticide usage, and we even have dead lakes, killed by all the effluent that farmers dump into them."

Right--I was there when the Auckland paper ran a special 5-part series on some of NZ's dying lakes.

"In Auckland we have one of the biggest rates of air pollution in the world. I think we have more than London.....Auckland 1 million people, London 19 million."

It didn't seem a lot worse than Sydney. I doubt either city has the pollution controls on cars that we have in the US.

You've got a great country though and I admire anyone who expends effort toward conservation and preservation of its many marvels.

Hello fellow Canadians.

Greetings from Winnipeg, Manitoba!

Frank Granovski October 26th, 2003 04:51 PM

Hey, Matt. That's my home town. I used to have a house on Evensen and Palmerston---back in the 80's.

Dylan Couper October 27th, 2003 12:07 AM

Hey Matt, is there snow there yet?

Jean-Philippe Archibald October 27th, 2003 08:23 AM

I don't know for Winnipeg, but here, in Saguenay, Québec, the first snow fall occurred last week. :) 300 miles north from Montreal.

That make beautiful landscapes to shoot with my XL1!.

Dylan Couper October 27th, 2003 07:18 PM

I was outside washing my car in shorts and a t-shirt yesterday.
Boy I love Vancouver. :)

Jean-Philippe Archibald October 27th, 2003 08:08 PM

We, here in Quebec, like the referendum...

We think of making a referendum about moving the Rocky Mountains a little more towards the east of the country...

I was outside yesterday removing the ice of my car's windshield.

There is no justice!!! :)

David LeBlanc said "Hey Keith did you ever hear of the SEB program by HRDC"

Hi David, I took the HRDC program also, my only comments about it is that you must make the business work within a year. I think most small businesses need more time than a year. I am off the program now, but I need to get another job to add to my income till the business gets off the ground.
