New to the Video Game
Hello there, my name is Stephen and I am really new to the video game. I just purchased a Canon XL1 so I can jump right in and get really wet with the whole video thing. I am also looking for any help from anyone who is willing to share their wealth of experiance and knowledge with me.
I am in the music industry as a performer and my band is currently working on completed our 3rd Album. We want to shoot a reality based music video, hence my purchase, so I am looking to learn from everyone. I live in the Anaheim area close to the Block of Orange, and Disney. You seem like the perfect person whoes brain I can possibly pick if you are willing to share? Enough rambling, and if any one is interested please shout out and shoot me a message or IM me. Thanks, Stephen |

NW Connecticut
Hi Folks,
Just a quick intro. I live in the uplands of NW Connecticut and work as an ecologist. My three main interests in DV are nature fillms, documentaries, and fictional shorts. Cam is a DVX100B w/Century tele, Oktava Mk12 mic, AT 55 mic, and Merlin SC. Post is done in Adobe Production Studio. Still learning the ropes across the whole realm of DV filmmaking so I'm interested in getting help from someone in my area. Thx and kind regards, Harry |

Hello everyone! My name is Alex and I'm from the north suburbs of Chicago but I am starting school in the fall in Cambridge so I figured I should get used to stating it as my address. I'm really interested in concentrating in film and hope to learn a lot from everyone's experience here. I've shot a couple of projects with a sony hdr-fx1 and I edit with premiere. Best regards to everyone.

DC Area
Hi
Just moved here. Have been writing and producing for TV in NYC the past few years and have just moved to the DC area. I also have some projects that are ongoing. Looking to get involved in the DC Film Alliance. Anyone know how to contact them? e |
There are a number of folks that contribute here regularly and there are a number of folks in the production community that are members of the DC Film Salon http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/dcfilmsalon/.
It's good to have more people in the community and welcome from down '95. Tim |
New Position still with Harrah's
Hi everyone I am now at the Horseshoe in Tunica, Ms. We just installed an IMAG system in Bluesville and I am running the entire production of video for all live concerts.
I love it. It is a big change from 1-XL1S. I now have 3 cameras on pan and tilt, 4 EIKI projectors,an Analogway switcher, DVD recorder, mini DV recorder and just ordered a new Mac computer to store and edit the shows in the near future. It has been very challenging to control all the equipment with only two hands, but I am getting better every show. If anyone is ever near Tunica/ Memphis feel free to give me a shout and stop by. |

Dallas/Ft Worth here
Hey guys.
I am new to the board, and fairly new to DFW. I worked in that wonderfull party and event area for a little bit, and have now gone solo. I have a JVC HD110u I just bought a month ago, and I am looking for some work, and to meet some more people in the area. I can and will rent my setup out, and would like to get into some more shoots. feel free to call me anytime, I would like to learn more about this camera, I came from a Sony Z1U and find this camera to be a bit confusing attimes. Vermont
Hey everyone,
I just joined recently. So far, I'm finding that this website is very helpful and informative. My name is Adam Barker and I am from the southwestern Vermont area. I mainly do weddings and corporate videos. I shoot using a Sony HDR-HC1 HDV Camcorder, and I edit on an Apple iMac G5 using Final Cut Express HD version 3.5 and iDVD. I don't have a website yet, but I'm currently looking into possibly getting one (so far it has been word-of-mouth when getting clients). Looking forward to chatting with everybody here. Adam |

Hello from California
I recently purchased a Canon XL1s from E-Bay and have been a lurker here for awhile. I am mainly just a hobbiest and do recordings of the kids at their high school football games for DVD formats, and alot of playing around. I love the quality and capabilities of this camera so far. Just wanted to say "Hello" to you all and hope I may be able to contribute a bit since I have been using various digital equipment for years.

'Nother Californian
Hi all- Thought I'd finally buy a video camera- wanted one for years. Settled on the Canon XHA1 and hopefully it'll arrive soon. I've decided to take the editing side of this hobby seriously- perhaps someday I can make some money editing as opposed (or in addition) to doing the stills and sound work that put food on the table now. So... looking into learning the Avid system. It's a tough call between Avid and FCP but most of my connections are in the broadcast (Network) and that's why I'm leaning toward Avid. Was gonna take the Symphony 101 course- any thoughts on that?

About to start my next biggest adventure
For the last fourteen years, I have been a marketer. Last seven as VP of Marketing for Fariel Consulting LLC. Before that, I was an independent marketing consultant. In 2003, an old client of mine commissioned a white paper on peer-to-peer networking and the entertainment industry. http://www.filehash.com/p2p1 It was just before RIAA went around suing home users of p2p networks. So far, the paper has been on target. It predicted the backlash against the RIAA. It also started my interest in p2p entertainment. I produced a pilot of my own talk show but the editor caused it to die before it went any further. Another lesson in barter deals. Currently, I am in negotiations with a poker site to produce a weekly poker show and distribute it over p2p networks. Due to the nature of the show, it looks like I will be doing it in another country than mine (mine's USA). However, I am really ready and looking forward to the change.

Hi all! This is my first post on DVi. I am a third grade teacher at Honey Island Elementary in Slidell, LA. I am close to retirement and have been pursuing videography since Hurricane Katrina hit. My desire is to be a full-time videographer in the next five years.
I just purchased my first semi-pro camera ... the Canon GL-2. Now, I'm ready for some serious video work. Does anyone have any suggestions? |
