Noob from Orlando
I'm new to this forum, and look forward to learning from you guys. I've been in the video world for the last 4 years, I was previously a plumber...yep a plumber. I am currently working as a camera operator shooting on the Phantom HD and the RED One cameras. I was recently approached by a dance school owner about shooting recitals, so I bought a Sony HVR-A1U, and Sony Vegas Pro 9. I have worked in a studio, but never captured live events, so I am totally new at this, and I'm excited about learning from you guys.

Jim, WELCOME!
What kinds of productions does an ex-plumber find himself producing with a Phantom HD and RED One camera? In case it's not clear, that's not standard equipment on this forum. I'm a new DSLR shooter in Maitland, but ride my motorcycle up to Sanford 2-3 times per week to workout with a personal trainer in the old town area on Lake Monroe. Before that, I lived on the lake for a year. Sanford's a bit strange, but it's got character! I'm definitely interested in what kind of productions you'd LIKE to do, as much as what you've done. Brad, I work at Digital Juice designing and shooting special effects like fire, explosions, water, viscous liquids and stuff like that. I got hired on as a set builder for DJTV, and learned the Phantom and Red One workflow. I have little experience outside of our studio and was recently approached about shooting a recital so I bought a Sony HVR-A1U and joined this forum. I really enjoy getting out and about and capturing live stuff. I also ride a bike, I've got an 08 GSX-R600 and a 94 Yamaha Virago 750.

Jim,
A meeting might not be a bad idea. I'm developing a production team to shoot a pilot tv show for potential sale to various nationally-known entities, and we may end-up short on camera operators. If you're interested in at least discussing the possibility of helping us, let me know. Brad higerd@gmail.com P.S. Dan, edited message to say "hi." Seemed rather rude to not acknowledge a neighbor.
