Bonjour from Montreal

Hello all,

Thanks for letting me in!

I've been reading this and other video forums for quite some time, and decided that the established posters on here seem to be the most helpful, knowledgeable and tolerant.

I'm a novice and got interested in video many moons ago (inspired by a UK TV Show called "Ghosts In The Machine"). However, most of my video was taken up with a very young family. I started with a little Panasonic (AV-1??) and eventually bought a Canon XM2 (PAL version of the GL2).

Mainly because of work, I was finding that I was building up stacks of DV tape and not doing anything with it…. I simply didn't have the time. So I switched to a good still camera.

Photos are fine but I was looking at a movie the other night, and realised photos just couldn't capture everything I wanted to, and have decided to revive my video efforts.

As HD has arrived in the interval, I have to learn all over again, and I hope I don't hack you all off with daft questions.

BTW, although I live near Montreal, I'm English, and I hope that doesn't put you off!

Cheers

Well mate, nobodys perfect, I should know, got UK, Australian AND Canadian passports (and live in NZ, go figure).

Know what, still the same loony bastard I was when I was just a Canuck.

Can't really say "Welcome" as you seem to have joined in 2005 (how's that work?), how about "Welcome Back"?

Great place here, great people and info to die for if you but ask the right questions [and use the small, but perfectly formed, Google Search box at the bottom of every page to Search, before you ask that one, utterly daft question that will haunt your continued presence here forever afterwards - I jest, of course, we all do it. Er, ask the question, that is.]

We'll just leave your pedigree on the back burner, it's not really going to be an issue.

Enjoy.

Re: Bonjour from Montreal

Thank you for the welcome, Chris and Glen! Appreciated.

Yep, I did join way back in 2005, then "left" as I stopped doing anything with a camcorder.

I thought I would be forgotten, and registered anew..... funnily enough, my name was taken so I tried Geoff England and got registered (different country too!) but somehow they knew who I was and I found myself with my real name back!
