Without all of the details, an actor in Mexico, was in a scene where he shoots six people. He was handed a prop gun, they started the scene and after two shots, he realized his gun had REAL bullets in it, killing one of the other actors.

What a horrible feeling. Authorities are still looking for the prop master!

Horrible story. Should NEVER happen. Makes me wonder if there isn't a "Murder" investigation in the works.

Never EVER allow any real ammunition on a set... FOR ANY REASON. Always use professional armorers. And always check a gun before action is called.

And remember, BLANKS can kill people too! (John Eric Hexum? Brandon Lee?)

The story said they arrested the actor for possible manslaughter charges. As for the murder possibility, that's what I thought of, but I wonder how many actors actually check guns before they shoot them for a scene? I'm not sure of the legal liability - though that's pretty unimportant when someone is dead.

On professional sets, the guy who is responsible for the guns is the only person allowed to hand the gun to an actor. No one is allowed to touch it in between.

People do not realize that blanks can kill too. I am not sure if manufacturers still use wood plugs in blanks, but at close range these plugs can be lethal.

Anytime you use lethal devices it is best to have people experienced with using these devices as props and check their references.
