Vinten Vision Blue compatible with Libec Legs?

Hello,

I need to upgrade my tripod (Libec LS-22M 2-Stage Aluminum Tripod System).

I want to keep the legs. Is the Vinten Vision Blue head compatible with the Libec legs of the LS-22M?

Thanks,

Simon

OK, so we're looking for a new tripod then?

Ah, so we're not looking for a tripod then?

Well, it just might, though why in heck you'd bother has me mystefied.

The legs of the Libec won't be a patch on the Vinten and you're basically just wasting your money.

If you want a truly uplifting support experience, go the whole hog and get the full VB, Jeez, it'll blow that Libec system into the stratosphere in pretty short order.

When you take the cost of the head alone and add the cost of the Vinten sticks, they're giving away the head, and no mistake.

Don't screw around here, it's a total no brainer, go for the full system.

Just my take, the VB head on a sub - standard set of sticks is a total waste of time and money.

Simon,

In theory, yes - they are both standard 75mm bowls. Sometimes there are problems with actual physical space for the screw-handle on the bottom, but you will probably be OK.

The fact that the head physically fits does not mean it will be a good match. You are putting a pro quality head on legs that are of a much lesser pedigree, and (if my recollection of the LS22 legs is correct) they aren't the most solid in the world.

The issue that i think you could have an issue with and cant answer for you right now is if the bowl clamp knob will fit when the legs are closed. Which Libec legs are you looking at and maybe ill be able to check them out at NAB (if they let me on their booth).

The legs under the LS-22 are quite an old model - I would imaging they would be showing off something more modern and just a little bit better at NAB!

It is _probably_ the T68 legs, which are 2-stage. Simon would need to confirm this.

Hello,

Chris - you need to learn to be more open and not so shy about your opinion. ;)

As for the rest, it sounds like it might work but I need to do more homework.

I am learning that the legs are very important too. Maybe the Libec LS-38M tripod makes more sense. My budget is definitely under 900 dollars and it only costs 575. :)

thanks for the quick input.
