Kessler Qwik Release vs. Zacuto Tripod Adapter Plate
Has anyone compared the Kessler Qwick Release with the new Zacuto Tripod Adapter Plate? Since they are a bit pricey (since I will need several), I want to get the best product.
I am posting this also in the Dolly / Track Cable sub-forum. |

Re: Kessler Qwik Release vs. Zacuto Tripod Adapter Plate
Kessler kwik release requires you to open and close levers after your plate is "caught in" and allows for sliding.
Zacuto TAP is a drop-in system and does not require you to close levers, but also does not allow you to reposition without a sliding add-on ($$). Zacuto's TAP style plate works on Kessler kwik release clamps, as do most other arca-swiss plates. The reverse (kessler / other plates working on Zacuto's TAP) does not work. Economically the kessler kwik release seems like a better deal to me (I have 4 clamps), although having to close the lever can be annoying at times such as on certain rigs and steadicam. That's about it for the cons I think. |
