Fluid head oily smell.
I have a ~10 yo Satchler DV 2 II (purchased with a PD170a when ever that was). It has started to emit an oily smell. It still seems to work fine--smooth pans and tilts. I don't see any evidence of a fluid leak.
Is it going to stop working suddenly or will it keep going?

Re: Fluid head oily smell.
I would suggest that one of the inner seals has started to leak hence the smell. I think eventually the fluid will start to appear externally. The head should keep working ok but if it's anything like the Libec heads that leaked... well they just rapidly lost almost all their drag adjustments. Ten years, a good run, service time I think:)

Hmm. OK, we'll have to see what happens. Thanks.
