Bandicoots - Western Australia.

Here is a link to a short clip. I put an EX1 down near to where they have been feeding whilst the weather and environment has been a bit tougher for this year. Why put the plate on the verander ? It fills with rain outside at present and the animals have taken a fancy to living in the guts of an old Kelvinator beer-fridge close by so they have cover to run under if a cat or dog comes along.

If you observe the one climbing out of the large pot, you will see old dogbite scars on it. They can handle some larger dogs when grabbed by turning inside their skin and booting the dog in the face. Fox terriers, which are ratcatchers by trade, are too quick and they shake the animal to death. Bandicoots beyond a certain size will dominate a cat but a catbite is like snake venom to them if the cat decides to try its luck anyway.

Nice. Are they a rodent? I live in the US and if I saw one here I would call it a rat?

They're actually a carnivorous marsupial, there are different species, a well known variant is the Bilby. So same family as Kangaroo's, Koala's as they have a pouch where they raise their young

Re: Bandicoots - Western Australia.

lol, here I am saying haven't yet seen one, and today when working in the garden and stopping for morning tea, one decides to join us for his own morning tea. Which I'm sure was some kind of delicious grub that he buried his head for some time obtaining!

I was some distance away so audio's not crash hot, and its a bit soft but I was at detail setting of -9 on my HD251 on a stock lens which is a jam jar I guess. I'll get a new lens soon hopefully
