"Which LCD TV/BR player should I buy?" thread- You're choice? all help appreciated

Greetings.

Maybe this thread can be a place to try and decide which LCD TV would be right for others who are as confused as me. I'm sure that this has been asked a million times (I did find bits and pieces on the forum) but am hoping to get the geniuses on this forum input.

After going through endless pages of these things, totally confused. Even the reviews are confusing!!!

So here are my parameters: 36"-42", 1080p LCD, 120-240hz, price range $500-$700 US dollars something that can be calibrated (to an extent, I know this isn't going to be a pro-monitor set-up)

I don't care what brand, just picture quality, decent built in sound (speakers on front?), reliabilty and your impressions and recommendations. And if there are any brands or models I should avoid, that would be good to know as well. Most of the sets I've looked at have at least two HDMI, a USB, and a few other connectors, but I'm thinking for home entertainment of just movies and TV HDMI is king. Believe it or not, we still do not have cable service by choice, so I'd be getting a digital antenna of some sort.

I will then run, not walk to our local TV superstore (ABT in Illinois) and buy something before the Mrs. rescinds offer of new gear.

While at the store, I will also be picking up a BR player. Again my preference would be something that we can get something like Netflix to download movies. I know all these players play DVD's to.

With my luck, every reply will have a different recommendation, but at least that's a start.

Thanks so much for your help, and if you have any questions, let me know.

Jonathan
