Converting for monitoring from a 7D
I finally got my jib setup together and will be building it/testing it tomorrow/thursday... so to monitor I have an older Varizoom 7" SD monitor I got in a bundle deal that I want to use for basic monitoring when I rig up my 7D... Dont need critical focus, so composition is all I want to monitor at this time...
To solve that dilemma (HDMI from the 7D to SD for the monitor), I found these answers... Ce Labs HSC12 HDMI to Composite Audio / Video Converter Either one of those looks like it would be a solution, but does anyone have any experience with these? Letterboxing the HD signal would be ideal, squeezing would be fine, chopping off the corners is not acceptable. Are there better converters out there or would these work fine for me? |

Re: Converting for monitoring from a 7D
Just use the Mini plug to 3-RCA cable that came with your 7D! It's free and you don't have to deal with HDMI cables.
I use this monitor on my jib. It's great outdoors, lightweight, sturdy, not plasticy feeling, and cheap. I've had it for about a year and a half now and I've never once had any issues with it. If it does ever break, I'd buy another one. 7" Lilliput 669GL-70NPC-H 669HB HDMI Monitor xtra light | eBay The only downconverters I would recommend are the AJA's, Black Magics', and the Decimator. |
