I like this monitor

Widescreen, 17 inch, not too pricey, etc.

But you should only use DVI-D, which doesn't come with it. But I bought two LCDs from Best Buy for a little over $229 each and two DVI-D cables from Radioshack at a closeout price of around $13 each.
