Monitoring with an off the shelf LCD and component to vga?

Is there a way I can put the canon A1's component output to a computer lcd monitor? I don't want to attach a computer I'm talking about finding some sort component to vga cable (does that exist?) and hooking that up to the A1 and then to computer monitor and getting the output in hd on the monitor without any other work arounds.

Is this possible even if the monitor is 1440x900 or 1680x1050? Or would it be cut off?

I don't have a lightweight hdtv or even an hdtv period yet but if I could monitor on my computer monitors that'd be great because they're so light.
