First wedding trailer...
Stephen J. Williams Stephen J. Williams is offline September 5th, 2010, 08:43 PM

I somewhat got bored of making highlights. after seeing some awesome trailers on this forum I decided to take that route for a bit... I'll see where it leads me.

Thanks for watching "if you click on it :-)"

Nicely done as is all your stuff. That's all I got to say about that!
Now about your opening ring shot. You have become a master of that shot I love it. Every time I try it doesn't work, maybe I need to take MY ring and practice somemore.

Anyway the trailer is really well done.

Hi Stephen,

Overall I liked the trailer. The music was good (if a little over-dramatic after 52 secs). The majority of the content was very nice (loved the slider shot when tying the shoe laces), well shot, and the best man's speech was very effective as a narrative structure.

A few things I noted.
For me, there was too much evening dancing and didn't help that the footage is quite dark as well.
I really didn't like the bloom to B+W. It doesn't come off well as it makes the footage quite and harsh. If you had to use it, it would be better if you softened the transition with a gaussian blur at the same time.
I liked the ring shot, however since this is quite dark, along with the dancing footage and the dramatic music, I didn't get the sense of the "fun" couple which the best man alluded to.

Just my thoughts.

Hey guys,

Thanks for checking it out. As always, positive and negative comments are greatly appreciated. The footage is dark I will agree, but I was just capturing the ambiance of the venue (darkness!! :-)
Don, Thanks for the comments about the ring shots. The idea of shooting the rings seems to be dwindling on this forum. But my clients love what I'm able to put together. Although, I am running ideas. Thanks again for the comments.

Hey Stephen,

Nice job with your first trailer! You kept a good pace with your edits. I think my only complaint would be the volume of the best man's speech... there were a couple of spots where I found myself really having to think about it to understand him. Maybe just a notch or two up on his audio, and a notch down on the music, would take care of it.

Nice work!
