Re: How much homily do you include?

For those having full mass, we always tell the couple: Anything that is personal to you, we keep in full...anything common of every Sunday mass, we summarize. Everyone is ALWAYS OK with that. If the couple knows the priest really well, and his homily is geared directly towards them and their life stories, we keep it. If it's like my wedding, where the priest didn't know us from Adam, we keep some of it, but cut it down dramatically, just depending on how long-winded the priest is.

Most of our catholic weddings go: processional, readings, brief homily, vows and rings, communion montage, recessional. We can almost always narrow a full mass down to half an hour. Oh, most of the hyms are cut out too, or at the very least, cut down to one verse when they opt to sing the full song.
