Anyone using the samyang 35mm f1.4?

If so how are you finding it? I want a fast lens for my a7s II for general evening reception walkaround and it's much cheaper than the canon - i already have the samyang 14mm which is pretty decent considering it's low price

Re: Anyone using the samyang 35mm f1.4?

Peter,

I have one and am very pleased with it - I bought the Nikon mount, but have used it with my FS100 with great success - I also have the 85mm - the 35mm is easy to use hand held, and I have happily used it at events in lower light - I don't have any footage I can post, but I highly recommend it.

BTW I have the photo version - the video ones had not come out when I bought it, but with an MTF or Novoflex adapter you have click less iris control. It is manual lens, but focus works as it should.

Re: Anyone using the samyang 35mm f1.4?

Yea its my main lens right now. I moved to manual focus along with my purchase of the Holymanta VND.
I had previously been using the Canon 35mm f2.

I find it quite big and heavy. But I'm comparing it to the Canon f2. I think all the f1.4 options would be similarly big and heavy.

It's a decent lens especially at f2 and up. But do you expect the f1.4 to be super sharp at this price?

If you want better sharpness go for the Sigma Art but its probably double the price.
