Vegas 8 crashes

Ran into a problem tonight, just rendered a veg file I have on a external HD. One of many I am working on. It took about an hour and when done Vegas would not open any saved veg files without going to 17% and crashing. I even reinstalled Vegas to see if that was problem, not!. But I quickly made a new similar file, saved it and that one will open with no problem, Its either a vegas bug, or vegas now has a problem with my external HD on the older saved files. Another thing they were originally made in 7, could that maybe the issue. Anyone have similar isues!

Hugh, some systems are having HDV issues on render, and Sony's engineers are aware of them.

I did open a support ticket, however, Sony has never been able to answer my qestions in the past, appreciate your response, sounds reasonable, all this started after I rendered a file, by the way the file is crap after rendering. I guess any new software is going to go through the de bugging stage.
