How to...?

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the correct thread for this, but I will give it a shot.
I'm trying to shoot some chroma-key video and wanted to know how to
display the video that will be displayed in the chroma-key area while recording.
For example, lets say i'm shooting s object/person in front of a green screen and I want to see the image or video that will be replacing the green screen while I'm recording? I think the big news and sports studios do this. If there is a better thread for this please excuse.

Thanks,
Troy

Don't know where this belongs.

You'd want to use a hardware chromakeyer. Ultimatte makes several. You'll find them spendy.

Some cheap (and most expensive) switchers also can do a chroma key.

Usually you'll want to record your key "clean" (green background) to preserve options in post.

Don't forget you'll also need some video source for the screen content.

You know, there is one method using Adobe Ultra that comes with the CS3 production suite. It will give you a preview of a key. I've never used this function because I don't haul my editing system to the studio, but it might be worth checking out.

Depending on your application, that is. It's good for a check on cutting the key, and will allow you to plug in at least a static background... I'm not sure if it moves. I have it here and could run a quick test if it seems promising.

I have a older version of ultra and that's where I think I remember seeing it.

Thanks much!
