Bad quality on finished DVD in SVMS 9.0

I've used a Canon HF10 and recorded my videos in 1440*1080i. The video quality looks really great on my computer(22" widescreen). After rendering in 1440*1080(15/16 mps) and 1280*720 the finished movies looks very bad om my TV. When rendering I've used both Sony AVC file type and MainConcept mpeg-2 file types. It looks like I've used a VHS-camcorder to record my movies. I'm using DVD Architect Studio 4.5 to finish my DVD's.

I have a standard SDV DVD player and uses a 32" 16:9 LCD TV to view my finished videos. My editing program is Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9. I have to say that I've used Pinnacle Studio program for about ten years.

What am I doing wrong here? My videos should not be so bad.
