Windows 7 Beta and Vegas Pro

Anyone try this combo yet? My friend installed Windows 7 Beta and says his machine is ALOT faster than just running XP64bit. Just imagine vegas pro on it!!!

I can't do a comparison to XP64. But I've just built a core i7 system with Vista64 and Win7 64 bit installed.

Running a couple of render tests using Vegas 8.1....
The dual core render test (from VASST I think) - rendering to DVDA PAL widescreen template took 2:52 on Vista and 2:57 on WIn 7

The hdvrendertest (on the forums at sonycreativesoftware) rendering to HD1080-60i took 1:01 on both systems.

Obviously, as Win 7 is still in beta these times could be slightly higher then the eventual final product.

I'm running the 64-bit Windows 7 Beta on my Core 2 Duo T5600 Sony Vaio laptop. I have Vegas 8.1 64-bit installed.

It works. I could probably use more RAM - it only has 1 GB now. Seems to be glitch-free so far, but I certainly haven't run render tests or put it through its paces.

I got the beta iso as well, but have yet to work up the courage to wipe my may render system (or monkey with the partitions) so that I could try it. May be after I'm done with all the edits in my post-production queue.

I am tempted to try this as well, but I am unsure how long the BETA version lasts - if it expires during a project, that would be trouble...
