Capturing from hdv camera

When I am downloading my video from an hdv camera, can I capture the video in any other format besides mt2? Where is this setting in vegas 8.
thanks.

m2t is a straight download from the tape to the hard drive. It's what you SHOULD be capturing in.

As always, Edward is right. But we should also tell you Andy that if you use Cineform Neo you can capture to a different file type (it would be a cineform codec) which is easier to work with.

another favorite way of dealing with m2t files is using Gearshift by Vasst. It's half the price of neo scene and some like using it much better.

You still capture m2t files but Gearshift will create proxie files. It is the way I prefer, a very nice workflow. I have only used the demo but I do like Gearshift very much. I recently decided to stop shooting in HD, so I may or may not purchase it, but I highly recommend it.
