Perfect - Thanks Edward

I was under the impression that AE was a huge effects suite that greatly expands creative capabilities but I'm finding many
discussions that indicate that there are only a few things that would go beyond what's in Vegas. I think I'm not seeing all the
tools in Vegas yet. It sounds like Boris would integrate better
anyhow.

Boris definitely integrates better. It can work directly from the Vegas timeline OR work standalone.

Perhaps if you could give a specific example, we could tell you how that could be accomplished straight from Vegas. Vegas does NOT do 3d extrusions so creating text with depth cannot be done without a 3rd party tool. However, Vegas DOES have very extensive compositing options including 3D. It really is very powerful once you scratch below the surface.

I think I need to get deeper in Vegas before I can provide an example. My thinking was analogous to say, music. Let's say I have a device that edits/records music, it offers reverb and delay.
I would go looking for an effects package offering, chorus, flange,
compression, etc..etc..

That's how I was approaching this.

Vegas is amazing in its ability to do a little of everything---But if you are getting into heavy FX and composititing, I recommend a dedicated program like AE---it really is alot more powerful.
