When I've attempted this in TMPGEnc an error message is generated stating that the selected resolution is beyond the DVD standard...and forces me back to the encode selection window, until I select a DVD compliant resolution.

I encoded an MPEG2 stream @ 1920x1080 last night before i posted. I notice you're using this v3 Xpress or something. I'm not familar with it but in version 2.5 which i use... you simply unlock the standard template profile and then go your hardest with all the relevant settings... it DOES do it. I highly doubt in v3 (a newer version) that it would have less functionality. Though these days i wouldnt rule i tout O_o :)

The Avisynth/Virtualdub denoise filters are open-source and generally free. Do a Google search for Virtualdub filters and you should find plenty.

The adaptor for loading Virtualdub/Avisynth filters in Vegas (PluginPac) can be found at:

To Daymon: I must correct myself!! You're correct, TMPGEnc 3 XPress encoder does encode MPEG2 HD.... I just went back into it and did a short render. At this rate, every DV editing app will handle HDV before the end of the year!!! If it doesn't rain it pours.....
