Problems with .vob files in Vegas 9?

EDIT: I mean Vegas Pro 8!!!

I'm running Vista 64 and Vegas 8. I can't drop .vob files to my timeline without an error. Sometimes they work and sometimes it crashes Vegas. Of course, these .vob files are not "protected" files.

Anyone else have this issue? I think it's a unique Vista 64 problem for me as I had no issues on my XP machine with Vegas and .vob files...

Why don't you just do a File - Import - Camcorder DVD Disc to import from a DVD?

Hi Jacob,

You might want to have a look at this thread. Let me know if you have any more luck than I am.

You can copy and drop a .vob file straight onto the timeline, but for ease and speed, Edward's suggestion is best. Treat the DVD as though it was out oc a camcorder... and import it that way.

Ive found copying and dropping the .vob can lead to a crash 50% of the time, but importing it hasnt proven a problem so far.

I used to do that, even renaming the VOB files to MPEG and it would usually work.

With the DVD recorder we are using now it doesn't work at all. I end up with a 20 second clip (from a 1Gb vob file) and the audio doesn't line up with what I do have. Hence the long process I have gone through in the thread I gave the link for above.
