Rendering out MTS files taken with GH1

Hi all,

This was my first experience shooting with the GH1 and the results are pretty impressive.

I now run on 7 with 64b version of Vegas and everything is as smooth as silk so far. Although I won't be doing the editing for this project I was asked to clean the footage. The editor doesn't work in Vegas so I will have to render the timeline.

I perused the AVC templates and did some test but I still not 100% sure which one to choose in order to minimize quality loss.

So far it looks like the default template might do the trick as it let me choose it let me use a 720p setting as well as keeping the framerate as the original not to mention that I can crank up the bitrate to 20mbps if I want to.

What are your experiences with this format?

Are my instincts right about the default AVC template?

Thanks for your input.
