Sam, if you turn off looping you'll get exactly what you're stating. You'll still get a little "tick" mark every time the event repeats BUT it won't loop - it will hold the last frame forever. The timeline in the effect stays the original length because it still *IS* the original length. You have to change the "length" field to get the timeline to change.
