				Event has turned pink?

I'm not sure of the implications of this but....

I put an invent on the timeline (inside a church) it's the best clip of this particular area but has a sound problem - some dumb-ass idiot decided to walk past and have a fake coughing fit! So I ungroup the event and removed the audio event from the clip and replaced it with an audio event from another 'take' (same ambient sound but no coughing!). Having done that, at the point where I added the replacement audio, both the audio and video events turned pink! WHY? - i've done this before and nothing turned pink? So, question is what did I do wrong and are there implications to it turning pink (it plays in the preview window OK) |

the clips are out of sync, ever so slightly, but the are out. You'll need to slip one of them (I almost always use the audio clip) to sync it perfectly if you can. You may not be able to due to the clips being from 2 different parts of the entire project but if it's just music or even voice and there isn't a need to sync to a persons mouth and you're happy with the way everything has come together then don't worry about it.

Either that or you washed the clip with something red and it bleed. ;-) Never mind that one, it's early and my mind is warped. It's a sync thing - not a big problem to fix, or not.

Philip, I've had this happen to me numerous times doing exactly the same thing.

The pink colour means that the audio and video are no longer "officially" synced with each other. By "officially", I mean that it's not the original audio & video but a replacement of one or the other. It would be nice if, when you re-grouped them, the pink would disappear but Vegas isn't that smart yet :-) |

			Thanks for the assurances :-)

It's weird because the audio is actually silence(!) yeah, well nothing is actually silent is it? It's just ambient sound and I also did the same thing with another cut taken a few minutes later when I dropped the lens cap - very loud when you do that in a church. I actually used the same event section of 'ambient sound' and added it to that event yet that remained white - very odd |

Was the "ambience" sound you used taken from the same clip as the original audio? You say it came from a different take of the same shot, but did you stop recording then start again for the next take or was it one continuous clip? This would explain why it is happening on this scene but not the one from a few minutes later.

Here's the bottom line... If you KNOW it's correct, ignore the PINK.

Edward: I'm with you, if it ain't broke, don't fix it - I'll just pretend my wife has been to Vegas and redecorated :-) |
