I got the $139 offer as well. I have 8 and will probably take the upgrade and FREE offer.

Hi guys

Im in the UK - does anyone know if I will be charged import duty if I order the boxed version?

Cheers

David Dalton October 15th, 2010 12:17 AM

The boxed version is dispatched by Sony using Fed Ex, who will clear the goods through UK customs and deliver it to you. Fed Ex will then invoice you for the VAT and a handling charge, which was £10 last time I purchased that way (Dec 2009).
If you download you will get charged VAT only.

Mike Kujbida October 15th, 2010 03:13 AM

Yes you will.

The offer page says"
"Upgrade to Vegas Pro 10 from Vegas
Upgrade any professional version of Vegas (Vegas Pro, Vegas Audio, or Vegas Video, Vegas, or Vegas+DVD) to Vegas Pro 10.
Pricing excludes Vegas LE"

It also says:
"Vegas Pro (Download)
Includes downloadable versions of Vegas Pro software, DVD Architect Pro software, and product manuals (PDF). "

Mine arrived FedEx today. I buy the disk version so I have something tangible to sell on at the next upgrade. Minimalist packaging these days!

Marcus Martell October 15th, 2010 04:01 AM

It's a good new!
BTW if i order the dvd to be shipped to my house in Spain how much should i pay of taxes?
thx

Renton Maclachlan October 15th, 2010 12:48 PM

No GST for me this time, as I had it sent to me personally.

I also have a sort of production name I use sometimes even though it represents me personally, and last time [v8] that was used and the assessors thought it was for a business so charged me tax. I couldn't talk them out of it, so after that I made sure Sony only has my personal address details!!!

No idea about Spain...

Dale Guthormsen October 15th, 2010 03:05 PM

I have gone to the link and it says 239 dollars!!

any ideas?

Marius Boruch October 15th, 2010 05:37 PM

my advise - test it first!!!!!! before you buy. I made that mistake and ended up switching back to Vegas 90e

Dale, I have the same issue. When logged into my account my only upgrade choice is the $239 price. When loaded into my shopping cart the price is still $239. The last upgrade I bought was Vegas 8. I don't know if that is an issue. I contacted Sony via email several days ago and am waiting to hear back.

Mike Kujbida October 15th, 2010 06:52 PM

Here's an email link direct from the folks at Sony that has the correct price.

Vegas Pro 10 email

I will agree with Marius that you should test it first. However, I know it's running fine on hundreds of other machines so the specific issue he is having seems unlikely on your particular machine. But it *IS* always wise to test first - for example, it won't install at all on my XP SP2 machine because it requires XP SP3 so if this was my only machine, I would be unable to use it.

I have upgraded early in the past for the discount price, and then waited for updates to resolve some of the early problems. This version, though, has been pretty clean for me so far... and I am not at present seeing the need to return to 9.

Mike McKay October 16th, 2010 12:00 PM

If I upgrade, do I still keep V8C on my computer and can continue to use if needed, or does it get uninstalled/deactivated etc?
