Rendering to WMV yields 5fps max!

This could be something in addition to a problem I am experiencing with Vegas failing to scale clips correctly but it could be coincidence.

If I render any part of any timeline to WMV11 the best frame rate I get in the WMV is about 5 - maybe less.

I must have rendered out over a thousand times to WMV for online client evaluation and now this...

I can watch the preview monitor during rendering and it goes through 4 or 5 frames then seemingly hangs on one particular frame for a minute before moving onto the next 5 quickly. The render completes and the file is unusable. Audio, however, is OK.

Any ideas?

p.s I've just tried rendering out to a MOV and the same problem!

using V9 by the way.

Re: Rendering to WMV yields 5fps max!

having tried all manner of changes to see if I can kick it in to action I'm now getting the following message half way through the render to wmv:

'An error occured while creating the media file.....wmv'
'The reason for the error could not be determined'

not looking good!
Anyone offer any suggestions?

That error seems to occur if you are trying to render out a project that has not been saved. Try saving the project and then try the render.

Interesting that you should say that as the veg in question wasn't saved. So I tried rendering from a saved veg and same problem.

Out of curiosity I did a system restore and still the same thing.

Re: Rendering to WMV yields 5fps max!

Found what's causing it but can't explain. Rendering a 1080p project to the same size (1920x1080p wmv, custom settings) causes the problem. Render to any other size WMV and it's fine.

I tried the same on my laptop running vegas9, 64bit and it's fine. I can render to this size without issue.

So the problem is just on 32bit V9 when I render to 1080p WMV.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance...

Re: Rendering to WMV yields 5fps max!

Correction - not solved

The problem still exists in other frame sizes but manifests itself less obviously. Some clips go to about 15 fps while other get 20 to 25.

64 bit renders seem to be OK however.

Anyone?
