Well I had one more try( all parameters at default) since I am one of the guys who obviously didn't know about the frame rate( Vegas is never realtime so why bother looking). Playback of the timeline on my X2 4200 with 2G RAM it was between 8.5 and 12 fps up to frame 638 when it started to slow down to 4.5 by frame 738 and finally finished at 2.9 for the last 50 frames. I have yet to get my system to complete the render it usually stops at about frame 638!!! It will complete this first 630 + frame render in about 19mins. Always says system resources ran out of memory. I have nothing else running, system control of page file on a SATA drive with 50G available( I have tried the page file allocation on all my drives with no effect).
