Will Video card affect rendering using 720P or 480i?

Boy this one really has me puzzled. I have been having an issue with some flickering and a slight loss of quality when rendering from Vegas to Architect burning to DVD. I am scratching my head trying to figure out the problem. Then tonight, I realized I had my video card set to 720P on my second monitor (dual monitor setup). But, my second monitor is a 26" HDTV widescreen. So needless to say, my picture is awesome when editing. But my question is this, if the card is set to 720P, does it render in 720P? If so, this is where my loss of quality would be since my DVD player is NOT HDTV, but only digital. I set the Card to 480i and cannot tell too much difference in my monitor when viewing a video file from Vegas. I am using Canon XL2 cameras so its not hi def anyway. But I just wanted the best picture to view my work on. So bottom line is, Can the video card setting affect rendering quality? Or, is all of the rendering done strictly through vegas? I really need someone who knows to help out here. Thanks. J
