Vegas locking up on start-up...

I am in the process of editing a wedding (1080/60i).

When I open vegas and attempt to open my project vegas can't seem to fully start. It remains at: Building Peaks 21% (112 of 534). Any reason why this might be happening? The program isn't crashing it just can't seem to get beyond the 21% loading number.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Seems to indicate that media or veg is corrupt... but why is it building peaks on 534 events? Did you erase or move sfl or sfk files? Building peaks is the process of generating the visual display of the audio tracks and storing them.

Can you tell what media file it's stalling on? If so, you might try temporarily renaming that file.

Probably the first thing to try - just let it sit and see if it comes out of it. If it doesn't complete in 10 minutes or less it probably won't.

Then, is there a bak file that you can try? (these are the automatic backup vegs generated by Vegas, unless you've turned that off in prefs).

In previous versions I've heard of people having difficulties with large numbers (over 100) of M2T clips on the timeline, but not much recently (Vegas 7d, 7e). What version of Vegas are you on?

To get past that you may try clicking on "Cancel" in the lower left corner. That should, hopefully, at least let you in but you may still have an issue. You may have a clip it's having problems reading.
