Audio "Stream Offline" with DVCPRO50 AVIs.

I have a short film shot on the Panasonic SDX-900 in DVCPRO50 that I'd really like to be able to edit in Vegas. I captured all of the footage using a trial version of EDIUS 4. The clips all open an play fine in EDIUS and in VirtualDUB but when I import them in Vegas (7.0d) the audio is all "stream offline" I can capture the audio separately as a wav using EDIUS and then Vegas has no problem with it.

I examined one of the AVIs with GSPOT and it said the audio was 4 channel 48KHz encoded as "wave extensible" and that I have no codec installed for that. However if I examine the EDIUS-captured wav file that does work in Vegas it says the exact same thing.

Any ideas?
