is there a limit to no of proxy files in project?

Hello all - hope you're well.

Just having another frustrating time with Vegas 7.0e
I have just returned from a shoot where I have used over 7 XDCAM discs (shooting with a F350).
When I try to import the second or third disk 7s proxy files into the project (each disc is about 1.3gb in size for all the proxy files), the system crashes - freezes and sometimes comes up with a memory issue warning. I am using 2gb of Ram, this shouldn't be happening!
Am I trying to bring in too many proxy files (hopefully not as it would contradict the whole point of working with them?).
I want to bring in 8 dics worth of them for the video.
Is there a ceiling limit to the number of porxy files I am import to the project? Is anyoe else out there having this issue? Has anyone got past it?
I am downgrading to 7.0d tonight to see if this helps.

I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks, sparky
